Metro pulls out all the stops for the big James Avalon releases, This was last year’s big movie so for the DVD release, they have done it up big time. The two disc set includes more than five hours of footage. The list of extras is a mile long and includes plenty of behind the scenes material, photos, trailers and a host of other extras. The movie itself was well received by critics, though not as successful as the original. (Personally, I think this is the hotter of the two films.) Like most of Avalon’s work, this one is dripping with style, beautifully shot, but with far more attention paid to the artistic side than to the sex. This kind of movie make for a great DVD when they are done properly and this one seems to be a very high quality disc.
The movie opens with Misty Rain recovering the wrapped body of Joel Lawrence from beside the road. Before we can begin to wonder much about them, we flash back to the seventeenth century where Joel is being entertained by two lovely women, Syren and Ava Vincent. As the smoke wafts around them, the women take very good care of Joel. Taking his cock in their hands, Ava and Syren pass it back and forth, sucking it gently. Syren helps guide him into her friend and then straddles Joel’s back as he pumps deep into Ava’s pussy. She switches places with Joel and lets him pound away hard from behind. They share a load of cum before spilling his blood. This is a very moody opening scene with lighting flashing and a lot of shadows. It’s gothic and very well put together, but the heat is hidden under all that style.
A distraught Misty swears revenge over her man’s body. She goes looking for the vampires who took Joel’s life. They ask her to return later and she brings Mark Davis. Syren watches as Misty kisses her way down his neck and chest. She works his cock with her hand, sucking it to full attention. Davis fucks Misty from behind and then lets her ride his condom covered cock. He gives her hard strokes, but the shadows make it pretty disappointing. After taking his load on her face, Misty is turned by Syren and then feeds on Davis.
With her new powers, Misty turns Joel and the eternal struggle begins. Being immortal is fun for the duo. They hook up with Katja Kean and Nick East for a little fun in the afternoon. The girls get eaten, but the scene really picks up when Katja gets her mouth around Joel’s big cock. Misty tries to keep up and she’s really good with her mouth, but Katja’s blowjob is the first real sexual highlight of the movie. Misty makes up some ground during the simultaneous standing doggy. She pounds back against Nick to take in every inch. Katja looks great riding Joel and even better when he dumps a big load on her pretty face. After Misty also gets a protein facial, the vamps feed.
One of the advantages of being a vampire is that you can shape shift. This really comes in hand when you want your girl to look different. (And it helps in casting for porn films apparently.) She changes into Nikita Denise and Joel decides to try his new girl. In a really dark scene, she gives his dick a full tongue bath. This should be a really hot scene, but the lighting and look of the action manages to override even Nikita’s considerable sexual charms. After Joel shoots a big load onto her tongue, he too has to change his look, going all the way and taking a female form.
Syren and Ava are still partying as much as they can. John Decker and Ian Daniels come home with the two vamps and their new partner Wendi Knight. We know that they are all doomed, but at least they all get to go out with a bang. Ian looks quite pleased by the blowjob Syren is giving him. Wendi sits in a chair and watches Ava work on John. It’s sad to see the hottest girl in the scene sitting it out, but at least we get to watch her finger her pretty slit. Everything in this scene is very dark, but there is enough light to catch both girl taking sticky facials before the feeding frenzy begins.
Nikita and Holly Hollywood go out hunting the Ava and Syren. They pick them up in a club, and even up in a fierce four way veggie fuck. All four women seem very happy lapping labes and the heat is genuine. The action is shot with the same sort of shadowy look that we’ve seen throughout this whole movie, so I found it even more sleep-inducing than usual. When they are done, the girls get down to a bit of killing to settle the old score. When I reviewed this movie on VHS, I found the final scene really out of place after what should have been the end of the movie. The three way scene is beautifully lit if you are looking for artistic use of blue instead of sexual heat.
Disc one contains a few trailers for other Cal Vista features as well as a set up menu that allows you to access some of the bonus material. There are alternative angles you can access as well as a running audio commentary by Avalon and Nikita Denise. Disc two is packed with additional features like a blooper reel (Porn stars do interesting death scenes.) The photo gallery is filled with very high quality shots. There are interviews with Ava, Wendy, Misty, Syren and Nikita. The behind the scenes reel is nicely done and there are some vampire specific features. We even get screensavers and wallpapers for PC users. The bonus material is very impressive, making this a DVD to remember.
The movie is a big time release and typical of James Avalon. There is some beautiful stuff here, but not enough sexual heat to get a full recommendation. Whoever decided that features and couples friendly porn has to look this way should be shot. I can appreciate the beautifully shot scenes and the editing, but it just needs more heat. With women like Katja, Ava and Nikita, I just can’t help but see how much potential got lost in the style. The extras and disc quality make this a good DVD, but unless you already like this kind of adult feature, then you might not appreciate it.
