Starring: The movie stars Desiree Cousteau, Jessie St. James, Holly McCall, Lisa Moore, Sharon Kane, John Seeman, Star Wood, David Morris, Dan Sir, Larry Davis and the perennial Mike Horner. There's more acting in this film than in most recent videos, and most of it is quite good - though Desiree always seems to play exactly the same character in all her films, and spends as much time in this one battling with her wig as with the villains. On the other hand, she is extremely cute, and I can't fault her method of talking down a potential suicide.
Production values are fairly expensive, with better special effects than Doctor Who or Blake's 7 managed at the time. It's a pretty good take-off of the Christopher Reeve Superman movie, with a plot of sorts and some genuine giggles (they had to blank out the trademarked logo on Coousteau's superheroine costume and some of the dialogue for copyright reasons), and looks and sounds as though it were shot for cinema release - though the close-ups look quite grainy and very static.
It has its moments, but not enough of them. The hottest scene, the lovely Holly McCall doing anal, is ruined by the level of violence and abusive language. Desiree doesn't do anal, supposedly because her co-star cums too soon (which I can believe), and her too-brief boob sex scenes are hampered by clumsy camerawork.
Desirre and Holly, who are both gorgeous. The other women are astonishingly flat-chested by modern porn standards, and their make-up and hairstyles look as dated as the special effects and tacky costumes.
The violence. I like my sex consensual.
It's worth seeing for Desiree and Holly, but it's more successful as a historical curiousity for Boogie Nights fans than a piece of erotica. It shows how much mainstream porn has changed since the 70s, in political correctness, technical quality, and the look of the women, even though the sex are exactly the same. 6 out of 10 for entertainment and eye candy.
