PUMP (released by Coast To Coast in 1991) is the first William Black's video that I've watched and if wasn't for the great actors he has worked with on several occasions (Ashlyn Gere, Zara Whites, Cameo, Randy West, Rocco Siffredi, Peter North... to name a few) that probably would be the last.
First of all, I was expecting some sort of feature and not some gonzo bullshit. A collection of vignettes with even a very thin plot based on body-building could have been very nice, funny or even tense. I mean, the working bodies, the sweating muscles and the dark locker rooms can make one hell of a background for a porn feature. Unfortunately, this is not case here and all we are left with is a bunch of pretty average sex scenes shot around a beautiful big house (I give them that). No plot, no real dialogues to be found and the only things loosely related to body-building are bullshit lines like "first you got to warm up" that the actresses deliver before they start sucking cocks.
To make things worse the photography is hideous for the most part (there are still, thanks god, some nice pictures here and there). The angles are below average (way too many ugly close-ups) and they seem to have used the crappiest video camera that the early 90's had to offer to shoot them. And don't even get me started on the sound... I can bear the dogs barkings or the sound of cars passing by but hearing the director's instructions and the crew buzzing in the back, this is just disrespectful to the sleaze-hounds watching this. When it comes to flicks in general not just porn, I'm the first one to forgive technical mistakes but there it just shows a lack of care and interest.
On the good side, the sex is fine (thanks to the cast but not thanks to the photography and the so called editing). The best one is the Rocco/Raven scene. when he fucks her from the back on the stairs, it's just great. Actually the sex and the cast are the saving grace of that otherwise mediocre video.
To summ it up, close to no thinking went into the making of this video and that's a shame especially when they were lucky enoug to have Raven, Cameo, Rocco Siffredi and Peter North delivering the goodies in front of the camera. But overall if you are a die hard collector as I am, you won't feel too cheated buying this, once again, thanks to the great cast
