Frankly, for a “Golden Age” movie, this one was a real dud. The big-name stars in the cast appear only briefly (for example, Georgina Spelvin in one brief lesbian scene). The sex action is too brief and changes too fast to follow it, becoming just a collage. The plot might have been a great idea, but it wasn’t handled well at all. It could have been interesting had it been presented as how the senator’s debauched world came apart, with some element of suspense (will he, or won’t he get away with it? Who will he take down with him?). Instead, the central plot is really complete in the first quarter of the movie, and then is just used as an excuse to barrage the viewer with bodies piled on top of each other.
